The matter was brought to the notice of the authorities by inconvenienced residents, following which municipal commissioner Anunay Jha assured them of a speedy resolution.

Mathura, 2022-05-11 (Vrindavan Today News):  Despite NGT orders prohibiting burning of waste in Mathura-Vrindavan, the practice continues unabated in Mathura’s posh Dampier Nagar area. Every night plastic waste being burnt in front of the hosiery godown near Bhagat Singh Park is letting out toxic fumes in the air.

The matter was brought to the notice of the authorities by inconvenienced residents, following which Municipal Commissioner Anunay Jha assured them of a speedy resolution.

In compliance with NGT orders, Mathura-Vrindavan municipal corporation had directed all sanitation workers to stop burning waste on roads. Even though the practice seemed to have come to a near halt, of late residents have noticed piles of plastic waste being burnt every day in front of the godown after midnight. The toxic fumes and stench of burnt plastic linger on in the air for long after the waste has been discarded, causing harm to people’s health and well being.

Dampere resident PC Agrawal wrote a letter of complaint in this regard to the municipal commissioner Anunay Jha. Jha has promised to investigate and resolve the matter at the earliest.
