Vrindavan Kumbh Site To Become Green Belt

140 Acres to Become Green Belt; 35 Acres to Grow Flowers and Fruits for Temples

Vrindavan, November 21 (Correspondent):
The lush greenery of the Kumbh Mela area, which was ravaged by the recent Yamuna floods is set to bloom again. Spread between the Parikrama Marg and the river, nearly 140 acres of land will be restored as a vast green corridor, designed to reflect both natural beauty and the spiritual essence of Braj. Flowers grown here will be offered at the Banke Bihari Temple and other major temples and shrines of the region.

The project will formally begin on 25 November on the auspicious ocassion of Bihar Panchami and the event has been named as ‘Shri Bihar Panchami Panchavati Mahotsav’. During the ceremony, 108 Mahants and saints of Braj will plant 108 Panchavati saplings with their own hands. This initiative is a joint effort of the UP Forest Department; U.P. Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad; and Krishna Bhumi (Infinity Group). The Krishna Bhumi Group is sponsoring the Green Belt Development Project under its Corporate Social Responsibility, and actively implementing it on the ground.

Ravi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer of ‘Krishna Bhumi’ group, informed that nearly two lakh plants were damaged during the floods. In the first phase, 45 acres will be replanted with tall saplings; such as peepal, gular, pakhar, mango, and banyan—each measuring 12 to 15 feet. These taller plants are expected to withstand future flooding more effectively.

Talking to Vrindavan Today, Shri Ravee Shankar said, “Real estate business is not just about taking from the land. It is our responsibility to give back – to protect, restore, and preserve the environment for future generations”.

Bamboo plantations will also be developed along the Yamuna bank to help control soil erosion and regulate the river’s flow. Within the green corridor, 35 acres will be dedicated to seasonal flower cultivation. The flowers and fruit grown here will be sent for worship and offerings at the Banke Bihari Temple and other prominent Braj temples.

To protect the new plantations, 100 volunteers and 10 guards will be deployed. DFO Venkat Shekhar Patel and UPBTVP ACEO Madan Chandra Dubey informed that for the inauguration, the event will be graced by UP Minister of State for Forest & Environment Dr. Arun Kumar Saxena, Grammy Award–winning Padma Bhushan Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Satvik Veena creator Pt. Salil Bhatt, and Grammy-nominated flautist Pt. Ajay Prasanna.
