Mobile Phones Likely to Be Banned Inside Banke Bihari Temple

Selfies and video calls causing congestion; final decision on November 19

2025.11.03 (Vrindavan Today News): Carrying mobile phones inside the sacred precincts of Thakur Banke Bihari Temple may soon be prohibited. The proposal aims to control the ever-increasing crowd and streamline the darshan process for devotees. The temple’s sevaits (priests) have placed this suggestion before the High-Level Management Committee.

According to the sevaits, one of the main reasons for crowding inside the temple is the delay caused by devotees taking selfies and making video calls during darshan. Many visitors connect live with their family members at home, which leads to prolonged stays inside the temple and creates congestion.

During the committee meeting held on October 30, the sevaits proposed a complete ban on carrying mobile phones into the temple premises. Justice (Retd.) Ashok Kumar, Chairman of the High-Level Committee, assured that a final decision will be taken in the upcoming meeting scheduled for November 19.

Committee member and sevait Dinesh Goswami said that if implemented, the mobile ban would significantly help in crowd management and ensure a smoother darshan experience for all devotees.
