Tensions resurfaced after a woman, along with her family members, registered her land for the proposed corridor construction on Friday.
2026.01.18 (Vrindavan Today News): The controversy surrounding the proposed Shri Banke Bihari Temple Corridor has once again intensified, with the temple’s sevayat Goswamis strongly opposing a recent land registry carried out in support of the project. The Goswami community has alleged that the move is aimed at reviving momentum for the corridor plan, even though the matter remains sub judice.
Tensions resurfaced after a woman, along with her family members, registered her land for the proposed corridor construction on Friday. Following this development, discussions and debates have gained traction across the temple area and among local residents.
Sevayat Anand Ballabh Goswami stated that the woman who donated her property has no connection with Shri Banke Bihari Temple and is associated instead with Radha Vallabh Temple. “When the matter is under consideration in the Supreme Court, such actions are inappropriate,” he said. He further added that while the temple committee was requested to construct basic facilities such as toilets for devotees around the temple, even that could not be accomplished.

Another sevayat, Himanshu Goswami, alleged that the woman who handed over the land is the sister of a property dealer who supports demolition of the temple and has allegedly used derogatory language against Thakurji. He warned that if the corridor is constructed, more than 50 ancient temples in the temple vicinity would be demolished. “We will not allow this to happen under any circumstances,” he asserted.
Sevayat Gopesh Goswami, while opposing the corridor project, recalled that during the agitation against the corridor last year, the same woman had approached the District Magistrate to submit documents related to her house. He termed the recent registry as a deliberate attempt to revive the stalled project.
Sevayat Ashok Goswami emphasized that the Goswami community has been continuously striving to protect the ownership rights of the temple and to prevent any demolition. He alleged that a local individual is once again trying to bring the corridor issue to the forefront through his relatives.
With opposing voices growing louder, the Shri Banke Bihari Temple Corridor issue has once again become a focal point of debate in Vrindavan, even as the final legal outcome awaits adjudication in court.
