Dr. Vasudevan performs as an offering to the Divya Dampati of Bhagwan Shri Godha Rangamannar on every Sharad Purnima. This year the event will be held on October 20, 7.30 pm onwards.
Vrindvan, 2021-10-19 (Vrindavan Today News): On the auspicious evening of Sharad Purnima, acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancer and carnatic vocalist Dr Sridhar Vasudevan will perform Sangeet-Nritya Seva at Vrindavan’s Shri Rangji Mandir.
Dr Vasudevan is a well-known performing artist as well as a scholar of classical arts. Having trained under the deep rooted dance pedagogy of Padmashree Smt Vyjayantimala Bali for 12 years in a strict Gurukul pattern of shiksha deeksha, Dr. Vasudevan is the only disciple carrying forward her style of dance (natya shaily).
As the most deserving inheritor of Bali’s priceless legacy, Dr. Vasudevan has carved out a niche for himself in the world of classical dance and music across the globe. Yet the spiritual town of Vrindavan draws him to perform as an offering to the Divya Dampati of Bhagwan Shri Godha Rangamannar on every Sharad Purnima.
This year as well he will present Sangeeet-Nritya Seva along with his disciple Kum. Srilakshmi Muralidharan at the inner sanctum of Shri Rangji Mandir on Wednesday, 20 October 2021, 7:30pm onwards.
Sharad Purnima is also known as Raas Purnima in Braj. On this night, when the moon is adorned with all 16 kalas, Shri Krishna performed Maha-Raas with Radha and the Gopis. Devotees throng temples in large numbers on this day to see the lordships dressed in pure white clothes, ornaments and other paraphernalia. Raag and Nritya sevas and general cultural programmes are organised in the late evening.
