The history of the Ladli ji temple in Barsana is filled with miraculous stories, passed down through generations of locals. From tales of escaping Mughal invaders to divine interventions, the temple has always stood strong. One particularly famous story involves a thief who came to plunder the temple, only to leave blind.
We are speaking of the sacred palace of Shri Radha Rani, located on Brahmanchal Mountain. Over the years, several attempts have been made to loot this palace, but invaders and thieves alike have always left empty-handed. Shri Yagya Purush Goswami, a member of the management of the temple, recounts an incident that took place around three decades ago.
A thief entered the temple with the intent to loot. As soon as he arrived, he began beating the caretaker with sticks. Despite the attack, the caretaker managed to close the temple doors and latch them with his finger. The thief relentlessly attacked him, hitting him with sticks and even firing shots, but the caretaker remained unharmed. Eventually, the thief lost his eyesight, unable to see anything. In the meantime, other people in the temple sounded the emergency bell, causing the thief to flee.
Another incident, said to be around 200 years old, tells of bandits who tried to steal from the temple. However, their plans were thwarted by Laadli Sarkar (Radha Rani). Around 11 PM, the bandits climbed to the top of the temple, aiming to steal the golden spire. The caretakers sensed something was wrong. But before they could act, the thieves were struck blind.
