‘Bhakti Stambhs’ to welcome devotees to Vrindavan on Yamuna Express Approach Road

84 Devotional Pillars to Offer a New Spiritual Experience in Vrindavan
Illuminated pillars to glow at night on the Yamuna Expressway approach

12th December, 2025 (Vrindavan Today News): Vrindavan is set to welcome devotees with a distinct spiritual ambience as 84 devotional pillars are being installed along the approach road from the Yamuna Expressway. Visitors entering the holy town will soon experience a symbolic and visual introduction to the land of Yogiraj Shri Krishna.

The construction of these “84 Bhakti Stambhs” is progressing rapidly on the central divider of the road stretching approximately 2.25 kilometres, from the Yamuna Expressway entry point up to the helipad area, just beyond two bridges. The pillars are being erected at intervals of about 15 metres, creating a continuous devotional corridor for pilgrims arriving in Vrindavan.

Each pillar will be adorned with finely carved stone sculptures, including sacred symbols such as the cow, Sudarshan Chakra, Radha-Krishna, Gauranga, and peacock. The word “Radhe-Radhe” will be inscribed prominently on the pillars, reinforcing the devotional essence of Vrindavan. The crowning elements, made of red stone, are already prepared and are being installed in phases.

Once completed, the pillars will be illuminated with decorative electric lighting, making them glow magnificently at night. The visual effect is expected to be spiritually captivating, compelling visitors to pause and absorb the atmosphere. A similar concept was successfully implemented during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, where 84 faith pillars were installed along the airport road and became a major attraction for pilgrims.

According to the project proponents, the 84 devotional pillars symbolically represent the journey through 84 lakh (8.4 million) life forms, a central concept in Sanatan philosophy. Merely viewing these pillars is believed to give devotees a spiritual reminder of the soul’s long journey through various forms of existence.

As per traditional belief, the soul passes through 84 lakh yonis, divided into four broad categories of 21 lakh each, before attaining human birth. In human life, the soul seeks fulfillment through the four purusharthas—Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha—and progresses through the four ashrams of Brahmacharya, Grihastha, Vanaprastha, and Sannyasa.

The devotional pillars are intended to convey this profound philosophical message in a symbolic and accessible form. It is believed that the sight of these pillars will inspire devotees with the assurance that, through the grace of Radha and Krishna, the soul can be liberated from the cycle of birth and death and attain its ultimate spiritual destination.

With this initiative, the approach to Vrindavan is poised to become not just a road of entry, but a spiritual passage, setting the tone for the sacred experiences that await within the town.
