11th January, 2026 (Vrindavan Today News): A late-night fire at a flat linked to renowned saint Premanand caused panic at the Shri Krishna Sharanam residential society on Chhatikara Road on Saturday. The blaze, which broke out under suspicious circumstances, was brought under control with the help of local residents and the fire department.
The incident took a controversial turn when disciples of Saint Premanand allegedly misbehaved with police officials and media personnel at the spot. There were also accusations that the disciples forcibly snatched mobile phones from several people present.

According to residents, a burning smell was noticed late at night from Flat No. 212 in Govinda Block, after which flames were seen inside the apartment. As the fire spread, residents of nearby flats rushed out for safety and informed the police and fire brigade.
The flat belongs to Saint Premanand, who lived there until about a month ago before shifting to Shri Radha Keli Kunj Ashram. Since then, his disciples have been staying in the flat.

After receiving information about the fire, several disciples arrived from the ashram and allegedly cordoned off the area. They reportedly snatched mobile phones from people who were recording videos of the incident. Even CO Sadar Pritampal Singh and Kotwali in-charge Sanjay Pandey were allegedly prevented from gathering information at the scene.
Media persons were also targeted, with attempts made to seize their phones. Police intervention later ensured that the phones were returned. However, during the scuffle, the mobile phone of Congress leader Tulsi Swami was badly damaged.
The extent of damage caused by the fire is yet to be assessed. Police are looking into both the cause of the fire and the allegations of misconduct during the incident.
