Over 5.1 Million Devotees Watch Digital Darshan of Banke Bihari in 15 Days

Technology brings smoother crowd management and wider access to Vrindavan’s beloved deity

2026.03.16 (Vrindavan Today News): In a significant step towards blending tradition with modern technology, the Uttar Pradesh government has introduced live streaming of darshan from the revered Shri Banke Bihari Temple. Launched on February 27 on the auspicious occasion of Rangbharni Ekadashi, the initiative has quickly drawn massive participation from devotees across India and abroad.
Within just fifteen days of its launch, more than 5.1 million devotees have watched the live digital darshan, while approximately 4.54 million pilgrims have visited the temple in person, experiencing a more organized and accessible system of worship.

Live Darshan Reaches Millions
The temple now broadcasts around ten hours of daily live coverage, including the three principal rituals—Shringar Aarti, Rajbhog Aarti, and Shayan Aarti—allowing devotees to witness the worship of Banke Bihari in real time.
The live streaming is available on platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X. For devotees who are unable to travel to Vrindavan, the digital darshan offers a meaningful connection with the temple’s daily worship.
Technology Improves Crowd Management
To support the initiative, authorities have installed five advanced cameras inside and outside the temple premises along with six large LED screens. These screens allow devotees present in the temple complex to view the darshan without crowding the sanctum area, significantly easing congestion.
According to Mathura District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh, the primary goal of the administration is to ensure that every devotee can have safe, accessible, and orderly darshan. The combination of live streaming and on-site screens has already shown positive results in crowd regulation and security management.
Devotees Welcome the Initiative
Many visitors have appreciated the improved arrangements. Sulekha Gautam, who travelled from Ghaziabad with her family, said that earlier the narrow lanes and heavy crowds often caused anxiety for pilgrims. “This time the system felt much more organized. We first watched the live darshan on the screens outside and then entered the temple calmly in a queue,” she said.
Arun, a devotee from Delhi, noted that the live streaming has made it possible to witness important rituals even from afar. “I can now watch the Rajbhog Aarti while at work. When I visited Vrindavan, I also found the temple arrangements much better than before,” he said.

A New Model for Religious Tourism
The initiative highlights how modern technology can complement traditional pilgrimage, making spiritual experiences more accessible while improving safety and crowd management. By reducing congestion inside the temple and enabling millions to participate remotely, the system represents an evolving model for managing large-scale religious tourism in sacred destinations like Vrindavan.
