- Painting as a Medium to Depict Everyday Life – Thakur Kishan Singh
2025.09.09 (Vrindavan Today News): Beyond the temples of Braj, the region’s rural culture, ancient art, and vibrant everyday life are equally captivating. Painting serves as a powerful medium to portray the soul of Braj and its people. This was expressed by District Panchayat President and Chancellor of K.M. University, Thakur Kishan Singh, while addressing the closing ceremony of an art exhibition held at the Braj Folk Art and Craft Museum.

He remarked that the way Braj’s daily life has been depicted in the exhibition brings back nostalgic memories. He emphasized that efforts must be made to encourage today’s younger generation to learn such art forms, which would allow them to stay connected with their cultural and rural roots.
During the closing ceremony, Thakur Kishan Singh keenly observed all the artworks and praised the creations of artist Uma Sharma. Senior Surgeon of District Hospital, Dr. Vikas Mishra, along with Seema Mishra and several others, also showed special interest in viewing the exhibition.
Uma Sharma has created over 100 paper collages and oil paintings to date and has exhibited her work in Mumbai, Bhopal, Jaipur, Ajmer, Delhi, Shimla, Bengaluru, Khajjiar, and other cities. She has mastered the unique technique of cutting paper clippings and arranging them into thematic collages. Her artwork vividly captures the essence of Braj, reflecting its civilization, culture, and the everyday lives of its people through oil paintings as well.


After viewing the exhibition, the District Panchayat President also explored the museum’s collection of ancient rural artifacts and expressed how it transported him back to the olden days.
On this occasion, Dr. Umesh Chandra Sharma, Braj culture expert from the Geeta Research Institute, Vrindavan, extended his gratitude to all visitors. The week-long exhibition attracted considerable interest from both Indian and foreign audiences.
