No e-rickshaw will be allowed to operate without registration from January 1, 2026
8th December, 2025 (Vrindavan Today News): To streamline e-rickshaw movement in Mathura–Vrindavan, the Municipal Corporation has made registration mandatory from January 1, 2026. Along with this, six routes in Vrindavan and ten routes in Mathura have been designated. Each route will have a distinct colour strip, a displayed fare list, and a QR code issued by the Municipal Corporation. Scanning the QR code will provide complete details of the driver and the vehicle.
According to Municipal Commissioner Jag Pravesh, over 20,000 e-rickshaws have been operating without regulation, severely affecting traffic and allowing arbitrary fare collection. To address these issues, Mathura Police, the Municipal Corporation, and the Development Authority have jointly introduced a colour-coded route management system.
Under this system, only registered e-rickshaws will be allowed to ply on the designated routes. Charging fares higher than the fixed rates will invite strict action, including challans and vehicle seizure. Dedicated helpline numbers will also be provided for passenger complaints.
