2026.01.09 (Vrindavan Today News): A review meeting on strengthening and streamlining traffic management in the district was held under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh. The objective of the meeting was to improve traffic regulation across the district and deliberate on necessary corrective measures.
During the meeting, the District Magistrate directed that new traffic regulations be implemented in the Mathura–Vrindavan region, focusing on route management, parking systems, and route demarcation. He emphasized that before enforcing these changes, the general public must be adequately informed and sensitized about the proposed arrangements. He also instructed officials to initiate immediate and effective action at locations identified as major traffic congestion points.
Detailed discussions were held regarding frequent traffic jams at Govardhan Chauraha, Mandi Chauraha, Chhataikara Chauraha, and Narhauli Tiraha in Mathura city. Suggestions for alternative traffic arrangements were invited. After an in-depth review, Narhauli Tiraha was identified as the most complex and critical congestion point requiring urgent intervention. It was unanimously agreed that all concerned agencies—including the Traffic Police, Police Department, Municipal Corporation, NHAI, Electricity Department, and others—would work in close coordination to resolve the issue at Narhauli Tiraha.
Instructions were also issued to make Govardhan Chauraha, Chhataikara Chauraha, and Mandi Chauraha more suitable for swift remedial action. Priority tasks include relocating nearby police outposts, trimming roadside trees, lane marking, shifting the high-mast light near Govardhan Chauraha onto the divider, fixing time schedules for the movement of heavy vehicles, and widening service lanes.
The meeting further reviewed the removal of encroachments carried out during festival periods at Chhataikara Chauraha, Mandi Chauraha, and Govardhan Chauraha, along with the need for strict enforcement against unregulated e-rickshaw operations. The Municipal Commissioner and Superintendent of Police (Traffic) informed the meeting that e-rickshaws are currently the biggest cause of traffic disruption. To address this, directions were issued to immediately serve notices to e-rickshaw owners and make vehicle registration mandatory.

It was also decided that passenger boarding and deboarding in e-rickshaws would be permitted from only one side. For this purpose, mandatory fabrication will be required, either by welding a fixed rod on one side or installing a lockable permanent door.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar, Vice-Chairperson of Mathura–Vrindavan Development Authority Lakshmi N., Municipal Commissioner Jag Pravesh, Chief Executive Officer of Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad Suraj Patel, Chief Development Officer Manish Meena, Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Suresh Rawat, Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Amresh Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Manoj Kumar, and other concerned officials.
