2026.03.21 (Vrindavan Today News): Tension gripped the Chhata area of Braj after the death of cow protector Baba Chandrashekhar Maharaj, popularly known as “Farsa Wale Baba,” triggering widespread protests and disruption along the Delhi-Agra National Highway (NH-19).
Angry followers and local residents staged a massive protest on Saturday, blocking the highway and bringing traffic to a complete standstill. Long queues of stranded vehicles were reported as demonstrators demanded justice and immediate action in connection with Baba’s death.
The situation escalated when sections of the crowd began pelting stones, damaging several vehicles, including those of officials on duty. Police were forced to resort to tear gas to disperse the mob and gradually bring the situation under control. Heavy police force was deployed in the area to prevent further escalation.

According to initial reports from locals and followers, Baba Chandrashekhar died after being run over by a truck on the day of Eid. Protesters alleged that the incident was not an accident but a premeditated act, demanding the immediate arrest of the truck driver and a high-level investigation.
However, the district administration has presented a different version of events. As per the District Magistrate, the incident occurred in the early hours of March 21–22, around 4:00 AM, near the Kosi police station area along the Haryana border. Baba Chandrashekhar, along with his disciples, had intercepted a container with a Nagaland registration number on suspicion of transporting cattle. Upon inspection, the container was found to be carrying goods such as soap, phenyl, and shampoo.
Due to dense fog, a Rajasthan-registered truck loaded with तार (metal wire) rammed into the group from behind, leading to a fatal accident in which Baba Chandrashekhar died on the spot. The truck driver sustained injuries and the vehicle was damaged.
Authorities stated that the unrest and violence were fueled by misinformation circulating among the public. Officials have assured that all aspects of the incident will be thoroughly investigated, including the allegations made by the followers.
Following the incident, security has been tightened across the region. Barricading has been set up on key routes including the Barsana road to facilitate the swift arrest of those responsible, if any wrongdoing is found.
Baba Chandrashekhar Maharaj was known for his active involvement in cow protection activities in the region. His mortal remains were taken to his gaushala in Anjanokh, where a large number of supporters gathered to pay their last respects.
The administration continues to monitor the situation closely, urging citizens to maintain peace while assuring strict and impartial action based on the findings of the investigation.
