2024.04.29 (Vrindavan Today News): A devastating fire broke out in the warehouse of the Jal Jeevan Mission located near Jaint village on the Mathura-Delhi Highway. On Monday morning around 11:30 AM the fire was ignited due to a short circuit in a nearby transformer, with its sparks reaching the plastic pipes stored in the warehouse.
The inferno quickly spread, engulfing three houses in its path, causing cracks due to intense heat. Efforts to control the blaze were intensified, with the dozens of fire brigades from nearby cities like Agra, Aligarh, Hathras, and the state of Haryana rushed to the scene. Additionally, social workers and water tankers were mobilized to assist in extinguishing the fire.
By evening, authorities managed to gain full control over the raging inferno, preventing further damage. However, the fire had already consumed significant property, including approximately 180 truckloads of plastic pipes worth millions of rupees.
Panic among the residents in the vicinity
The fire, which originated from a short circuit in a transformer adjacent to the warehouse storing plastic pipes for the Jal Jeevan Mission, quickly escalated into a massive conflagration, causing panic among residents in the vicinity.
Police, including the SSP Shailesh Pandey, swiftly arrived at the scene to assess the situation and ensure traffic on the highway remained unaffected. Despite the fire being approximately 100 meters away from the highway, traffic police were deployed to manage vehicular movement and ensure smooth flow.
Challenges and Assistance in Fire Suppression
Due to the rapid spread of the fire, efforts to control it proved challenging. Even with the prompt arrival of the fire brigades, the intensity of the blaze depleted their water reserves, necessitating reinforcements from neighboring regions.
Witnessing the severity of the situation, additional fire brigades from refineries, Agra, Hathras, Aligarh, and Haryana were summoned. Sixteen fire trucks collaborated to finally bring the blaze under control by 7 PM.
Assessment of Damage and Relief Efforts
The warehouse, housing approximately 180 truckloads of plastic pipes, suffered extensive damage. Along with the pipes, other materials stored in the warehouse were also engulfed by the flames.
Recognizing the urgent need for relief, philanthropist Shri Pramod Garg Kasere dispatched several water tankers to the scene, supplementing efforts to extinguish the fire. These tankers, equipped with firefighting equipment, facilitated the firefighters’ task and ensured a continuous supply of water.
In addition to Pramod Garg Kasere’s initiative, the municipal corporation also dispatched water tankers to support firefighting operations. The timely arrival of these tankers minimized the need for firefighters to seek water sources elsewhere, streamlining their efforts to contain the blaze.
The prompt response from authorities, combined with collaborative efforts from firefighters and community members, helped mitigate the impact of the fire, although significant losses were incurred.
