2024.09.15 (Vrindavan Today News): It was a proud moment for the Brajwasis of Vrindavan when a street was announced to be named after their most favorite leader Late Shri Magan Lal Sharma. On Friday, the Mathura – Vrindavan Municipal Corporation passed a resolution to name a street in memory of Late Shri Maganlal Sharma, the former chairman of Vrindavan Municipal Council.
The street that stretches from Gore Dauji to Ramakrishna Mission has been named after this popular leader. The proposal of naming the street was approved by the Municipal Board in the presence of Mathura-Vrindavan Mayor Vinod Agarwal and all the municipal councilors. Mayor Vinod Agarwal proposed to name the road in honor of late Shri Magan Lal Sharma, the former chairman of the Municipal Council.
Following the announcement by the Mathura-Vrindavan Municipal Corporation, there has been a joyful atmosphere among the local residents of Vrindavan. This decision has sparked a wave of enthusiasm among the residents and the BJP party members alike. Shri Udayan Sharma, the son of the late Magan Lal Sharma, expressed his happiness with the corporation’s decision. Local residents have also welcomed the move, remarking that it was long overdue.
Late Shri Sharma was the former chairman of the Nagar Palika Parishad of Vrindavan, who served the city of Vrindavan for seventeen long years. His period of chairmanship was known as golden period for Vrindavan. People recount that the streets were so clean that one could roll on it. Every street and drains of the temple town were cleaned twice a day. The drains were so clean that even its base was visible. Shri Sharma was always stood by the people in their good and bad times.
According to the locals, Shri Magan Lal Sharma made significant contributions to the development of Vrindavan, even when resources were scarce.
It is worth mentioning that the late Shri Maganlal Sharma was elected as the chairman of the Vrindavan Municipal Council three times. During his tenure, he made tireless efforts to ensure the development of the town. Magan Lal Sharma maintained strong political ties with senior leaders throughout his career.
