205.08.12 (Vrindavan Today News): In anticipation of the grand celebrations of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, senior administrative and police officials undertook an extensive inspection of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple in Mathura. The delegation included Additional Director General of Police Mrs. Anupam Kulshrestha, Divisional Commissioner Mr. Shailendra Kumar Singh, Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. Shailesh Kumar Pandey, District Magistrate Mr. Chandra Prakash Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Shlok Kumar, Vice-Chairman of the Mathura Vrindavan Development Authority Mr. Shyam Bahadur Singh, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) and Joint Magistrate Mr. Abhinav J. Jain, along with other senior officials.

The team inspected all entry and exit points of the temple complex, reviewed existing and proposed barriers and barricading, and instructed that multiple holding areas be created to ensure the continuous movement of devotees. These holding areas would be used to regulate crowd flow when necessary. The arrangements for the media within the temple premises were also reviewed, followed by a meticulous security inspection of the entire campus.

Following the site visit, a review meeting on festival preparations was held in the auditorium of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi control room.

SP (Security) Mr. Rajkumar informed the gathering that several preparatory meetings had already been conducted to strengthen security at the shrine. Last year, the temple witnessed approximately 4.2 million visitors during Janmashtami. With the festival falling on a weekend this year, the number is expected to be even higher. Barrier and barricading arrangements will be completed well in advance.

SP (City) Mr. Rajeev Kumar reported that the Mangala Aarti at Shri Banke Bihari Temple, Vrindavan, held at 2:00 a.m. on Janmashtami night, attracts hundreds of thousands of devotees. Meetings with the temple management and sevayat Goswamis have ensured that only 500 devotees will be allowed inside the temple during the aarti, with all necessary arrangements in place.

The Electrical Safety Department was directed to inspect all connections, transformers, lines, and poles, and to submit a safety compliance certificate before the event. Unsecured overhead wires must be consolidated, transformers barricaded, and poles wrapped for safety. The Public Works Department was tasked with ensuring pothole-free roads and freshly painted road dividers.

The Chief Medical Officer was instructed to deploy ambulances (including motorcycle ambulances), medical teams, and health camps at regular intervals. Both government and private ambulances will be mapped, and beds reserved in all private hospitals.

The Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Administration was ordered to inspect shops and storage facilities to ensure no contaminated food is sold. The Development Authority was instructed to complete the construction of welcome gates without delay. The Municipal Corporation was directed to maintain exemplary cleanliness, ensuring that cleanliness is a key criterion for granting stall permissions.

Municipal Commissioner briefed that major intersections and routes have been adorned with wall paintings, with strong street lighting arrangements in place. Decorative elements will be installed at various key locations. The ghats will be decorated, façade lighting arranged, and festoon lighting installed. Approximately 160 water tankers will be deployed, along with 63 permanent and 75 mobile toilets, each staffed 24/7 for continuous cleaning. The corporation will also arrange barriers, watchtowers, medical camps, and lost-and-found centres. Eight permanent and ten temporary parking facilities will be available.

Anti-encroachment drives are ongoing across the city, with directional signage to be installed at multiple points.

SP (Traffic) reported that a traffic diversion plan has been finalized and will be widely publicized via social media, electronic, and print media before the festival. The Fire Department confirmed that, as in previous years, fire tenders will be stationed at key points and fire safety camps will be set up across the city.

Instructions were given to ensure all CCTV cameras around the Janmabhoomi area are operational, repaired where necessary, and additional units installed as required. The cloakroom facilities will be expanded, and live streaming of the Janmashtami celebrations will be arranged through large display screens and LED vans.

The police have been directed to maintain active surveillance on social media, respond to even minor incidents promptly, and counter rumours immediately, with strict action against those spreading misinformation.

Commissioner Mr. Shailendra Kumar Singh emphasised that all officials and staff must interact with devotees politely, making courtesy a top priority. He urged that the festival be managed in a spirit of teamwork, with seamless coordination between all departments to ensure a safe, smooth, and spiritually uplifting experience for millions of pilgrims.

With meticulous planning, from security and infrastructure to sanitation, medical care, and crowd management, Mathura – Vrindavan is poised to host one of the largest and most organized Janmashtami celebrations in recent years — blending devotion with disciplined civic management to welcome the world to the birthplace of Shri Krishna.
