Vrindavan Traffic Nightmare ! MLA’s Viral Facebook Post Exposes City’s Infrastructure Collapse

2025.07.13 (Vrindavan Today News): With no traffic plan and tourist influx rising, the traffic congestion has brought several routes in Vrindavan to near standstill on Sunday. While the residents have been complaining about it for a long time, the local MLA from Mathura – Vrindavan has taken cognizance of the issue.

In a strongly worded public statement, Shri Shrikant Sharma, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Mathura, expressed deep concern and dissatisfaction over the worsening traffic conditions in Vrindavan. The statement, shared across his official social media platforms, points to administrative negligence and a disregard for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s clear directives on traffic and encroachment control in the temple town.

Sharma, a senior BJP leader, highlighted that on the morning of July 13, between 7:45 and 8:00 AM, no traffic police were present at critical checkpoints such as the Multi-Level Parking area and the busy Prem Mandir junction. During this period, a number of unauthorized vehicles reportedly entered restricted temple routes unchecked — a blatant violation of movement regulations meant to protect Vrindavan’s spiritual zones from congestion.

The MLA further pointed out that key locations like Varaha Ghat and Sunrakh Road were clogged with private vehicles, while nearly all major access routes to prominent temples remained choked due to temporary encroachments and unmanaged traffic flow. As a result, both visiting pilgrims and local Braj residents are bearing the brunt of day-long traffic jams in what is supposed to be a peaceful, devotional environment.

This public reprimand by an elected representative reflects growing concern within the state leadership about the failure of local authorities to enforce traffic and urban order in one of India’s holiest towns. Shri Sharma reminded officials that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued specific orders to improve the traffic infrastructure in Mathura-Vrindavan, remove illegal roadside encroachments, and designate proper vending zones to ensure that vendors do not obstruct temple pathways.

Calling for immediate corrective action, Sharma urged Agra Commissioner Shailendra Singh and DIG Shailesh Kumar Pandey to take firm steps to implement the Chief Minister’s instructions and restore civic discipline in Vrindavan.

“Vrindavan is not just a spiritual destination, it is a global heritage site that demands thoughtful and sustained management,” Sharma emphasized.

As the town continues to attract hundreds of thousands of devotees and tourists from around the world, the demand for a coordinated, disciplined, and respectful civic system is more urgent than ever.
