2024.05.10 (Vrindavan Today News): The Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad is set to initiate the construction of a new ghat at the Akrur area of Vrindavan. Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Engineer at the Irrigation Department, expressed optimism regarding the forthcoming transformation, affirming the government’s dedication to fostering holistic development in the Braj region.
The proposed construction, aimed at enhancing the spiritual and infrastructural landscape, follows the successful completion of Devraha Baba Ghat in 2020. Crafted from exquisite red stone, the Devraha Baba Ghat has already become a magnet for pilgrims, fostering a serene ambiance for devotees.
Moreover, echoing a commitment to environmental sustainability, the surrounding areas have witnessed dense afforestation efforts post-construction, fostering a verdant ecosystem conducive to spiritual pursuits.

With an estimated expenditure of around 6 crore rupees, the completion of this project underscores the Yogi Government’s commitment to realizing its vision of enhancing pilgrimage infrastructure across the region.
As the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad collaborates conceptualized the project and the Irrigation Department will materialize the Akrur Ghat renovation project, it signals a harmonious synergy between governance and spirituality.
Akrur Ghat is very significant in the history of Vrindavan as Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu stayed here during his visit to Vrindavan. It used to be a dense forest then. Mahaprabhu would daily go to Vrindavan from Akrur to realize Krishna Lila inside Vrindavan. He didn’t stay the night there and returned to Akrur in the evening. One day, He recalled the celebrated pastime that had occurred there when Akrura was taking Krishna and Balarama away from Vrindavan.
