Even as you stand with your eyes closed, all your energies concentrated in offering prayer to the Lord, the person standing next to you might pinch your wallet and vanish even before you realize what has happened. This is very common in Banke Bihari Temple, which is often in the news for the instances of assault or any misbehavior.
But this time it was not an assault on any devotee who came to the temple for darshan, but on the criminal. On Friday, chaos erupted at the Thakur Banke Bihari Temple when a young man jumped from the temple roof to evade security personnel. The man sustained minor injuries. The police have taken action against him under Section 151 of the IPC.
According to police reports, at around 11 AM on Friday, Makhan Singh, a 24-year-old resident of Vrindavan, was caught trying to pickpocket a devotee. The temple security personnel took him to the temple office on the first floor and assaulted him there. In an attempt to escape from the security personnel, the young man broke free and jumped from the roof above Gate No. 1, causing panic among the devotees present there. Police officers stationed at the temple arrived promptly and took him to the police station. The young man sustained minor injuries, for which he received first aid.
