Mathura, 30.03.2026: A significant initiative to rejuvenate the Yamuna River in Vrindavan is set to take shape, with a pilot project planned between Keshi Ghat and Devaraha Baba Ghat. As part of this effort, geological mapping will be conducted along both banks of the river in the identified stretch. The findings will form the basis for implementing measures aimed at pollution control and the development of a sustainable waterway. A key meeting was held on Monday at the auditorium of the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad under the chairmanship of its Vice Chairman, Shailja Kant Mishra. During the session, Mayank Gandhi, founder of Global Vikas Trust, presented a proposal to gather scientific data essential for improving water quality. Detailed discussions were held on the current condition of the Yamuna, including silt levels, water flow patterns, and scientifically backed pollution control mechanisms. The Vice Chairman directed that the initial phase be undertaken as a trial project between Keshi Ghat and Devaraha Baba Ghat. It was agreed that a comprehensive scientific study would first be conducted in the selected stretch, and based on its findings, a structured action plan would be implemented.


District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh instructed the irrigation and other concerned departments to ensure full coordination and support for the project. The meeting was attended by senior officials including Lakshmi N., Vice Chairperson of Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority and CEO of the Parishad, along with ACEO Madan Chand Dubey, environmental expert Mukesh Sharma, Deputy CEO Satish Chandra, Shri Ravindra Chamaria, Chairman of Infinity Krishna Bhumi Group, Shri Anantveerya Das from Hare Krishna Movement and officials from agriculture, horticulture, waterworks, and irrigation departments.
Organic Model to be Developed at Raal Gaushala; Farmers to Receive Training
In the same meeting, discussions were also held on promoting a cow-based organic model. Plans were approved to scientifically utilize cow urine and dung in agriculture, forestry, and organic farming practices. A model project will be developed at Devaraha Baba Gaushala in Raal by Global Vikas Trust.
This model is intended to be replicated in other gaushalas across the district. Additionally, 50 farmers will be sent to the Trust’s headquarters in Ahmedabad in May for specialized training in organic and sustainable agricultural practices.
