A consensus was reached between the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad and officials of the Tata Group during a meeting held on Thursday.
The first phase of the project will focus on eight kunds, including Manasi Ganga in Govardhan. These kunds hold immense mythological and historical significance, bearing witness to the childhood exploits of Lord Krishna. Over time, however, the condition of these ancient kunds has deteriorated.
Efforts towards the conservation of the ancient kunds of Braj have been underway for several years by the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad (UPBTVP). Now, with the support of the esteemed industrial conglomerate, Tata Group, the initiative is poised to make significant strides.
During the meeting chaired by the Vice Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad (UPBTVP), Shri Shailjakant Misra, officials from the Tata Group were briefed on the current state and religious significance of the kunds, soliciting their cooperation in the endeavor.
The consensus reached between the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad (UPBTVP) and Tata Group officials paves the way for the restoration of Braj’s kunds. In the initial phase, Tata Group will undertake the rejuvenation of seven kunds. Shri Shailjakant Misra emphasized the importance of eco-restoration of the water in the selected kunds.
Tata Group will conduct surveys of the relevant kunds in collaboration with their technical team. Following the surveys, work will commence on the restoration of the kunds, including the installation of DPR (detailed project report). Subsequently, measures will be implemented to prevent the contamination of the kunds’ water by the surrounding population.
The ultimate goal is to ensure that the water in these kunds is suitable for drinking. The meeting was attended by environmental specialist Mukesh Sharma, retired assistant engineer Dudhnath, and municipal commissioner Shashank Chaudhary, along with Tata Group officials.
