The District Court of Mathura had extended the timings of the darshan by two and half hours
2022.12.01 (Vrindavan Today News): The popular Banke Bihari temple will continue to open and close at its scheduled time for pilgrims. As Allahabad High Court bench has put a stay on the request to extend the darshan hours after temple administration and Goswami (temple priests) failed to reach a consensus in this regard.
For the effective management of increasing footfall, the court of Civil Judge (junior division) had proposed the extension of temple darshan timings of Banke Bihari Temple. The district court had suggested to extend the timings by two and half hours from current darshan timings from 8 hours and 30 minutes to 11 hours in a day due to heavy rush of pilgrims.
As an aftermath of the unfortunate incidents of August this year when two pilgrims were crushed to death in a stampede in temple premises, the district magistrate and Senior Superintendent (SSP) of Police, Mathura had jointly forwarded a letter to district judge seeking extension of temple timings for ease of darshan. However, with this stay the temple timings will remain as earlier
It must be noted that winter darshan timings of Banke Bihari temple are 8:45 am to 1pm and 4:30 pm to 8:30pm.
