6 crore worth development projects are currently underway
2023.02.01 (Vrindavan Today News): The quaint village of Gokul will now be developed as a tourist hub in Braj. Currently, few projects worth Rs. 6 cr are under various stages of implementation, and others will begin soon as directed by Mathura MP Hema Malini during a recent inspection.
The proposed plan for development of the village includes the construction of a new ghat near Nandbhavan parking, along with beautification of Holi Chabutra at Muralidhar Ghat. The projects are estimated to cost 2.26 cr. Apart from that the approach road to Nandbhavan from the parking will also be beautified at the cost of 2.02 cr.
Another 36 lakh rupees will be spent on the renovation of Raas Chabutra to Nand Chowk stretch, and 69 lakh on the renovation of Yashoda Ghat and kunj galis around Nandbaba Mandir. A new road and parking will be constructed in front of the Holi Chabutra at the expense of 1.30cr.
Additionally, Gokul will get its own TFC and an STP for Yamuna water treatment at the Ghats. The Gokul Nagar Panchayat has allotted 1 bigha land for the latter, and another 2 bighas for the development of a playground for children. The playground will come up in place of the proposed Sangeet Vidyalaya which has been moved to another district. The survey for the sewer line in Gokul is complete, and the work is expected to commence in March. All drains between Yashoda Ghat and Ganesh Temple that are flowing into the Yamuna have also been tapped.
The parikrama marg, currently under encroachment, will be reclaimed and developed. The present condition of the parikrama is quite bad. Newly appointed Nagar Panchayat head Sanjay Dixit said that the orders of MP Hema Malini will be followed such that work on all approved projects for Gokul can begin at the earliest.
Further, SDM (Finance) Yoganand Pandey has been directed by BTVP CEO Nagendra Pratap to conduct a site inspection soon and submit a report on the same.
