Dispute Arises at Ladliji Temple Over Donation Box Money Extraction

2023.03.23 (Vrindavan Today News): A dispute erupted at the Ladli- ji Mandir in Mathura late on Monday night when the acting receiver, Ras Bihari Goswami, opened the screws of the donation box and removed the money, leading to an uproar and a fight in the temple premises. SDM Govardhan Kamlesh Kumar Goyal and CO Govardhan Ram Mohan Sharma reached the spot and sealed the money found in the donation box in the office built in the temple premises. The CO stated that action would be taken after investigating the matter.

According to the Barsana correspondent, on March 10, the committee of Ladliji temple was dissolved by ADJ Third, who entrusted the responsibility of looking after the arrangements of the temple to Ras Vihari Goswami and others. Acting receiver Ras Bihari Goswami and some others arrived at Ladli-ji temple late at night after Shayan Aarti, and it is said that he broke open the screws of the donation boxes kept in the temple premises and started taking out the money kept in them.

Police station in-charge Inspector Barsana Pramod Pawar arrived on the scene upon receiving information. He informed that on enquiry, the receiver Ras Bihari told them that the money was needed for the temple management. He claimed that he had asked the former receiver twice for the keys of the donation boxes but did not receive them. As a result, he had to resort to opening the screws of the donation boxes to remove the money for the smooth running of the temple arrangements.

After investigating the matter, SDM Govardhan Kamlesh Kumar Goyal and CO Govardhan Ram Mohan Sharma sealed the recovered money in the committee office in the presence of dignitaries on Tuesday afternoon, and sent a report to the court. CO Govardhan Ram Mohan Sharma also confirmed that there was a dispute between the acting receiver and Bhagwaan Goswami, the servant of the temple, over the extraction of money from the temple.

The situation has since been met with conflicting statements from both parties. Ras Vihari Goswami, the acting receiver, claimed that he had been appointed by the court and had the authority to open the ‘golak’ (donation box) and the dispute arose with the Sevayat on not sharing the portion. On the other hand, Sevayat Bhagwan Das Goswami stated that Rasbihari had been prohibited from opening the Golak in an unethical manner and had been asked to bring along other co-receivers and servitors.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing, and further action will be taken as per the court’s instructions.
