Vrindavan, 2022-05-11 (Vrindavan Today News): Moving ahead on implementing the plan for preservation of heritage trees in Vrindavan, the forest department has decided to barricade and label 32 trees identified under the scheme. The project has been in the works for over two years now.
Following the directives of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), the forest department had identified 32 hundred-year-old trees for conservation in the district of Mathura. Their historical, environmental, as well as religious significance make these trees an important part of the city’s heritage. Standing on precariously hollow trunks and foundations, many of them are in a decrepit state, and therefore need immediate attention.
DFO Rajnikant Mittal informed that in addition to issuing orders for steel barricading and heritage labeling of the 32 trees, the forest department has also sought expert advice on other scientific measures that can be implemented to preserve them.
