IAS Ojasvi Raj Assumes Charge as New Municipal Commissioner of Mathura-Vrindavan

12th July, 2026, Mathura: IAS officer Ojasvi Raj of the 2020 batch has assumed charge as the new Municipal Commissioner of the Mathura-Vrindavan Municipal Corporation. Known for his administrative competence and innovative approach to governance, his appointment has raised expectations for improved civic administration in one of India’s most important religious and pilgrimage destinations.
Born on 9 June 1992 in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Ojasvi Raj completed his schooling in his hometown before pursuing a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur. He later earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of Delhi.
Before joining the Indian Administrative Service, Ojasvi Raj secured an impressive All India Rank 9 in the examination for the Parliament of India, following which he served as an Executive Officer in the Rajya Sabha Secretariat. He subsequently qualified the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination with an All India Rank of 227, joining the IAS in the 2020 batch.


After completing his training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, he held several important assignments in both the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh. His early postings included serving as Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, and later as Joint Magistrate, Meerut.
As the Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Ballia, Ojasvi Raj earned recognition for promoting local entrepreneurship. He played a significant role in strengthening the branding and packaging of the region’s traditional sattu, helping connect local products with wider markets and creating greater opportunities for farmers and rural livelihoods.
He has now assumed charge as the Municipal Commissioner of Mathura-Vrindavan, placing him at the helm of one of Uttar Pradesh’s most prominent religious and tourism centres. The city continues to face several civic challenges, including sanitation, traffic management, encroachment control, infrastructure development, environmental conservation, and enhancing facilities for millions of pilgrims and visitors throughout the year.
With a reputation for administrative innovation and efficient governance, Ojasvi Raj is expected to bring fresh energy and a results-oriented approach to the development of Mathura and Vrindavan.
