Janmashtami celebration in Mathura; its schedule and the advisory for the devotees

2024.08.24 (Vrindavan Today News): The birth anniversary of Lord Krishna will be celebrated grandly at Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi on August 26. Shri Kapil Sharma, Secretary of Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan, and member Gopeshwar Nath Chaturvedi informed the media that the temple’s decorations and arrangements will be captivating, evoking the era of Lord Krishna.

According to the temple authroities, the Artisans are transforming the Krishna Chabutra and the Garbha Griha to replicate the ambiance of Kans’ ancient prison. The deities, including Shri Keshav dev, the Garbha Grihaa – Gopal ji, Radha Krishna, and Yogamaya, will be adorned in garments embellished with zari work, silk, imitation gemstones, and other fine materials.

Shri Krishna will don a divine crown, while Goddess Yogmaya will wear a golden crown. Shri Radha-Krishna will be dressed in the ‘Som-Chandrika’ attire, and Shri Krishna will also be adorned with a necklace studded with ‘Navaratna’, the nine gems. The attire for the deities will be offered in a grand procession at 6:00 PM on August 25.

On August 26, the Mangala Aarti will begin at 5:30 AM, followed by a divine Panchamrit Abhishek at 8:00 AM, with recitations and flower offerings.

At 9:00 AM, a grand Pushpanjali and Mahotsava Sankalp will be offered in the divine courtyard of Bhagwat Bhavan. The event will feature floral offerings and vedic chanting, accompanied by devotional songs sung by the singers of Braj.

On 24th August, the cultural performances will take place on the Leela stage from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. On August 25, a grand procession of artists skilled in various dance and musical traditions from across India will be taken out from the entrance gate no. 1. The event will be organized by the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad (UPBTVP).

Additionally, from August 25 to 27, devotional songs will be sung by renowned Braj artists from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by various cultural programs sponsored by the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad until 7:00 PM.

Following this, Lord Krishna will be worshipped with 1008 lotus flowers. At midnight, the temple will resound with drums, cymbals, and mridangams as devotees celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna. The Maha Aarti will begin at 12:10 AM and will be accompanied by joyful chanting and dancing by devotees. Afterward, Lord Krishna’s deity, adorned with fragrant substances like saffron, will be placed on a silver cow resembling Kamadhenu, which will perform the first Abhishek of the Lord. The Janma Abhishek will be conducted under the guidance of Mahant Nrityagopal Das Maharaj, President of the Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan.

To reunite lost individuals with their families, a Lost and Found center will be set up near Gate No. 1 in the parking area. The center will be equipped with loudspeakers around the temple to facilitate smooth operations.

On August 26, the Krishna Leela Mahotsav Committee will organize a traditional grand procession starting at 6:00 PM from Bharatpur Gate. The procession will pass through Holigate, Chatta Bazaar, Swamighat, Chowk Bazaar, Mandi Ramdas, and Diggate before arriving at the Janmasthan.

Devotees visiting the Janmabhoomi are advised not to bring mobile phones, cameras, remote rings, bags, matches, bidis, cigarettes, tobacco, knives, blades, or any other electronic items with them. They should either leave these items in their vehicles, at their place of stay, or deposit them at the designated cloakrooms along the way and obtain a receipt/coupon.

The Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan will operate three cloakrooms at different locations: in front of Govind Nagar Police Station (in the parking area), near Garhteswar Temple at Shri Govindam, and in front of Garhteswar Temple at Radha Park. Additionally, in case of emergencies, primary medical services will be provided with the cooperation of the Chief Medical Officer.
