- Bike-borne miscreants try to rob women devotees on Parikrama Marg in Vrindavan, shoot e-rickshaw driver
2023.04.14 (Vrindavan Today News): On Wednesday night, a group of women devotees from Indore were attacked by bike-borne miscreants in Vrindavan while they were performing Vrindavan parikrama on an e-rickshaw. The incident took place near Nidhivan on the Parikrama Marg.
According to reports, the women devotees had reached Vrindavan on Wednesday afternoon and had taken a room in Maheshwari Seva Sadan located at Ramanreti. After visiting all the temples, they had gone out to circumambulate Vrindavan on an e-rickshaw. The incident took place around 12 o’clock at night near Nidhivan, when the miscreants stopped the e-rickshaw and attempted to rob the women.
The e-rickshaw driver, Raghavendra, protested against the robbery, which led to an argument. During the argument, one of the miscreants shot Raghavendra and fled the scene.
The injured e-rickshaw driver was taken to the District Combined Hospital in Mathura, where he was referred to a private hospital in Agra due to his critical condition.
The police, who arrived at the scene after about 15 minutes, have started an investigation into the incident. The police have scanned the CCTV footage installed nearby to identify the miscreants. They have also taken nine people into custody for interrogation.
The incident has left the women devotees scared, and they have expressed their desire to return to Indore. They declined to speak to the media and only stated that the conditions in Vrindavan are not good.
The police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could help in the investigation. They have also set up four teams to investigate the incident and bring the miscreants to justice.
This incident has once again highlighted the need for better security measures in Vrindavan, which is a popular destination for pilgrims from all over the country.
