2023.12.28 (Vrindavan Today News): Smt. Geeta Devi, the wife of Rajasthan’s newly elected Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has undertaken a strenuous Dandavati Parikrama of Govardhan Hill. In a tradition deeply rooted in devotion, she is accompanied by her son Ashish and other family members. The parikrama spans a distance of seven kos (21 kilometers) which majorly falls in Mathura District of Uttar Pradesh and passes through the border of Rajasthan in Bharatpur District.

The Chief Minister’s family embarking on the annual pilgrimage of circumambulating the Sacred Govardhan Hill is a display of devotion towards Shri Krishna, despite being in a powerful position. Shri Sharma is known as an ardent devotee of Shri Giriraj Maharaj.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, known for his strong connection with Shri Giriraj Maharaj, had visited Shri Giriraj ji to seek the divine blessings immediately after taking the oath of office.  Now, his wife Geeta Devi, along with their son Abhishek Sharma and other relatives, is participating in the reverential circumambulation, commonly known as ‘dandavati parikrama,’ around Govardhan.

The journey, which commenced recently, is set to conclude on January 1st, followed by a grand feast. The family’s annual pilgrimage holds significant cultural and religious importance, and Geeta Devi has been observing this ritual diligently every year.

The security arrangements for this devotional sojourn are being managed by the Rajasthan Police, ensuring the safety of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s family. Additionally, personnel from the Uttar Pradesh Police are providing support, emphasizing the significance of the pilgrimage.

This annual pilgrimage serves as a remarkable blend of tradition, spirituality, and familial devotion for the Sharma family.
