Vrindavan to Get Heritage Makeover Inspired by Jaipur’s Pink City

2024.09.12 (Vrindavan Today News): Vrindavan is set to regain its ancient charm, offering visitors from India and abroad a chance to experience its historic grandeur. The Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority (MVDA) has initiated a project to give Vrindavan a heritage look, similar to Jaipur’s Pink City. Buildings along key routes will be restored and painted in uniform colors, with wall paintings depicting the divine pastimes of Shri Krishna.

As part of the comprehensive Vrindavan Master Plan 2031, the MVDA has started work along the Chhatikara Road, focusing on the facades of buildings. These will be redesigned in the heritage style inspired by Rajasthan’s architectural aesthetics. MVDA officials are currently reaching out to property owners for consent to carry out the renovations. On Wednesday, the MVDA secretary met with several building owners, and 10 have already agreed to participate in the project.

Given Vrindavan’s aesthetic and historical significance, the aim is to restore it to its ancient appearance, offering devotees a sense of the Vrindavan of old. The revised Master Plan 2031 includes provisions for architecture control and a uniform color scheme, with plans to beautify and improve the aesthetics of the town. Facades will be painted in light brown, and uniform heritage-style signage boards will be installed. Property owners will also be responsible for installing facade lighting.

MVDA Secretary Arvind Kumar Dwivedi stated that discussions are ongoing with property owners along Chhatikara Road. Ten owners, including those of Radhika Sweets, Heera Restaurant, Murliwala Restaurant, Santosh Dham, Radha Krishna Dham, Agarwal Restaurant, Thakur Misthan Bhandar, and Brajwas, have given their approval to transform their building facades into the heritage style.

Dwivedi further informed that talks are underway with building owners on both sides of the road. Over 300 property owners have been identified for potential inclusion in the project.
