2022.09.15 (Vrindavan Today News): The Railways has begun serving eviction notices upon encroachments along the railway tracks between Mathura and Vrindavan. The meter gauge railway line between Mathura and Vrindavan is to be converted into a Broad Gauge railway line to facilitate two trains to ply between the twin cities. Both the trains will have five fully air-conditioned coaches.
Removal of encroachment is necessary for future expansion of projects, smooth running of trains and keeping the track garbage free. The Railway land along the 12 kilometers railway line between Mathura – Vrindavan is illegally occupied by the encroachers in several places. According to a prior survey about 200 illegal inhabitants has to be evacuated from the railway land along the track.
Pursuing their plan further, the Railways authorities have already asked the District Magistrate to make necessary arrangements to remove the encroached area. The tender for the removal of encroachment will be floated shortly to facilitate the transformation of the Railway transportation between Mathura-Vrindavan. The notices have caused panic among the residents who have begun approaching the local politicians.
It should be noted that the Railway department is working on improving the infrastructure for the rail transport in Mathura and Vrindavan, under which the construction of the new railway stations are proposed. The existing railway stations of Vrindavan, Masani and Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi will be upgraded. Flyovers and over brides at the railway crossings are also being considered.
