MVDA Proposes to Relocate Planned Heritage City in Raya to Vrindavan

The Yamuna Authority (YEIDA) has been working on developing a ‘heritage city’ at Raya Interchange, along the Yamuna Expressway. The MVDA wants this project to come up along the Yamuna in Vrindavan to boost tourism and residential opportunities.

Vrindavan, 2022-05-06 (Vrindavan Today News): The Mathura Vrindavan Development Authority (MVDA) has submitted a pitch to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) or Yamuna Authority for relocating the proposed ‘Heritage City’ at Raya Interchange along the Yamuna Expressway to Vrindavan. The MVDA wants the project to come up on the other side of the Yamuna in Vrindavan.

For the past several years the Yamuna Authority has been working on the Detailed Project Report (DPR) prepared by CBRE South Asia Pvt. Ltd. to develop a ‘heritage city’ at Raya Interchange, along the Yamuna Expressway. The project is to come up in 9350 hectares of land at an estimated cost of 7000 crores. 731 hectares is proposed to be developed as tourist zone, while 110 hectares will be dedicated to the river front. The combination of modern civic amenities, tourist zones, forest, and temples is expected to boost tourism as well as provide another world-class residential choice for people.

The MVDA, however, wants this project to come up on the other side of the Yamuna in Vrindavan. In pursuance of the same, it has submitted a proposal to YEIDA, which if approved, “will change the face of Vrindavan,” said MVDA vice chairman Nagendra Pratap. “We envision a modern and ancient Vrindavan on either side of the Yamuna. The two time zones will be connected by suspension bridges across the river. If the proposal is approved it will also help us to work towards restoring the glory of the Yamuna and the ancient town.”

The YEIDA is also working on developing a six-lane expressway connecting Yamuna Expressway to Dwarkadhish Temple in Mathura and Banke Bihari in Vrindavan. The 100mtr-wide and 16-km-long highway will support industrial activity on both sides.
