Mathura–Vrindavan Gets Major Development Boost as MVDA Approves Record ₹2,082 Crore Budget

2026.01.29 (Vrindavan Today News): Mathura–Vrindavan Development Authority (MVDA) has approved its largest-ever and historic budget for the financial year 2026–27, marking a significant push toward planned urban development in the sacred twin towns.
The budget was approved during the MVDA Board Meeting, chaired by Divisional Commissioner Shailendra Kumar Singh, held at the Authority’s office located in the State Museum campus.
During the meeting, decisions taken in the previous board session were reviewed, and concerned officials were issued necessary directions. The Vice Chairman of MVDA presented details of the actual income and expenditure for FY 2025–26, along with the proposed budget for FY 2026–27, before the Board.
For the financial year 2026–27, a budget of ₹2,082.84 crore in income and ₹2,053.57 crore in expenditure was approved. Officials stated that this is the highest budget in the history of the Development Authority.
According to MVDA officials, the budget includes ₹850 crore for new residential and development schemes, which will be developed in Rahimpur, Chhata, Govardhan, and Barsana areas. This amount will be utilized primarily for land acquisition under these schemes.
Additionally, an extra ₹100 crore has been earmarked for construction and development works in Govind Vihar Housing Scheme (Vrindavan–Jait), Hanumant Vihar Scheme (Raal), as well as in Chhata and Rahimpur regions.
Vice Chairman Laxmi N. informed that ₹250 crore has been allocated under state government–approved infrastructure development schemes for Mathura–Vrindavan and surrounding areas. This funding will be used for strengthening parikrama routes, widening roads, and executing other major infrastructure works. Furthermore, approximately ₹85 crore will be spent on urban development projects through the Urban Infrastructure Fund and Regional Infrastructure Fund.
In a significant decision, the Board also approved the construction of residential buildings under the Rukmani Vihar Housing Scheme for the rehabilitation of families affected by the Banke Bihari Temple Corridor project in Vrindavan. These houses will be allotted to those displaced due to the corridor development.
The Board sanctioned the appointment of two Revenue Inspectors and two Clerks on a contractual basis. Approval was also given for outsourcing the services of five Junior Engineers, one Garden Expert, one GIS Expert, and one Procurement Consultant.
The meeting further approved a partial modification in the layout plan of the Govind Vihar Housing Scheme, developed under the Land Pooling Scheme in village Jait, Tehsil Sadar, Mathura.
Additionally, the Board granted approval for the preparation of zonal plans to ensure phased implementation of the Master Plan–2031. Permission was also accorded for the sale of shops through open sale mode in the Kailash Nagar Housing Scheme, in accordance with the basic principles of the Model Costing Guidelines.
The meeting was attended by District Magistrate C.P. Singh, Municipal Commissioner Jag Pravesh, Secretary Ashish Singh, along with senior MVDA officials and representatives from concerned departments.
