Mathura’s Sanjhi Artist Ajay Verma Selected for National Award

He will be felicitated by the president Draupadi Murmu in November

Mathura, 2022-09-07 (Vrindavan Today News): Manik Chowk resident Ajay Verma has been selected for the national award for Sanjhi. He will be felicitated at Delhi’s Rashtrapati Bhavan by the president of India, Draupai Murmu.

Verma has been engaged with the art of paper cutting in sanjhi for the last 40 years. Five years ago his work was also recognised by the SME department’s JD Office in Agra. He filed his nomination for the national award on the basis of it online.

The national committee of the All India Handicrafts Board also found him suitable for the award on assessment. He will be felicitated by the president of India Draudpadi Murmu at the next big national event in Delhi to be held in November

Verma’s two sons, Mohanlal and Ashutosh are also engaged in Sanjhi. His daughter is a software engineer in Gurgaon. The family is elated at the development.
