Vrindavan, 2021-09-22 (Vrindavan Today News): TheAkshay Patra Foundation has announced the opening of a new kitchen in Aajnokh village on the Barsana-Chata route. This will be the foundation’s third kitchen in Mathura district, through which it will serve nutritious and sumptuous midday meals to 5000 children across 63 schools and 39 villages.
Aajnokh is situated 5kmts from Barsana, en route to Chata. Bhumi pujan for the upcoming kitchen was held last week in the presence of Chaudhary Laxmi Narayan Singh (Minister of Dairy Development, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries – Government of Uttar Pradesh)as the chief guest. Bharatarshabha Das, President – The Akshay Patra Foundation, was also present.
Congratulating the organisation on achieving another milestone towards the fulfilment of its social responsibilities, the minister conveyed his good wishes for the new project. He also lauded the Akshay Patra Foundation for its continuing and unparalleled service. The Akshay Patra Foundation is engaged in serving midday meals to nearly 18 lakh children across 19093 schools in 12 states and 2 union territories in association with the central and state governments.
Programme coordinator Jitendra Sharma shared that the organisation has been active in Mathura for 15 years now. At the height of the covid19 pandemic it helped local hospitals in the district with oxygen concentrators and 15000 covid protection kits, in addition to providing around 2000 units of packed food to patients and hospital staff. Nearly 13000 poor and hungry people were fed everyday at 60 different locations in Mathura and Agra by the Foundation.
