Private Participation Invited for Cultural Development of Braj under Uttar Pradesh Braj Bhoomi Yojana
2023.06.28 (Vrindavan Today News): The Government of Uttar Pradesh has introduced the Uttar Pradesh Braj Bhoomi Yojana, aiming to foster private participation in the cultural development of the Braj region. This initiative encourages capable individuals or institutions, both local and international, to collaborate in the progress of Braj. Individuals, if they desire so, may also develop and maintain these sites in honor of their ancestors.
The Government believes that by increasing private participation alongside government funds and schemes, the development of pilgrimage sites in the Braj region can be expedited. This approach will not only accelerate the ongoing projects but also enhance their quality while incorporating innovative techniques and ideas. The Uttar Pradesh Braj Bhoomi Yojana has been designed to facilitate this collaborative effort.
Under this scheme, the government will provide the remaining funds if private institutions contribute 60 percent or more towards the total cost of a project proposed by the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad (UPBTVP). Upon completion of the project, a plaque recognizing the cooperating person or organization will be displayed on the building. The contributor may choose to operate and maintain the developed project. Alternatively, if they prefer not to take on this responsibility, the concerned department will be accountable for repair and maintenance. Moreover, any government or private company/institution wishing to finance 100 percent of a construction project may construct and operate it after the approval of UPBTVP.
To ensure effective implementation of the scheme, a web portal and mobile app will be developed. This platform will enable donors to deposit their contributions and government grants into the designated bank account. The accumulated funds can then be utilized for the related projects. The portal will be established in collaboration with a scheduled bank, which will also facilitate the crediting of government grants, corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds, and other donations.
The Braj Bhoomi Yojana encompasses various projects, including the beautification and conservation of kunds (water reservoirs) in the Braj area, enhancement of ponds, drainage systems, and water conservation measures. Additionally, it entails the construction of shelters for devotees and passengers, installation of solar energy systems, street lights, drinking water facilities, LED lights, and benches. The scheme also focuses on developing infrastructure for folk artists, preserving folk art, establishing public facilities and parking at pilgrimage sites, conserving and planting trees in the Braj forests and gardens mentioned in the religious texts, establishing libraries and auditoriums, providing folk art training, and undertaking activities to protect and promote Braj culture.
The Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad’s CEO, Nagendra Pratap, encourages private donors to actively participate in the Braj Bhoomi Vikas Yojana. The scheme outlines a systematic process to facilitate individuals and organizations interested in contributing to the progress of Braj.
With this initiative, the government and private sector aim to collaborate and create a significant impact on the cultural development and preservation of the revered Braj region.
