13th September, 2026, Mathura: In a move aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving passenger convenience, the railway administration has expedited plans to develop a second entrance at Vrindavan Road Railway Station. A proposal for the project has been prepared and sent to the Railway Board for approval. Work on the ground is expected to begin once the necessary permission is received from the higher authorities.
The existing approach road to Vrindavan Road Railway Station is narrow and frequently experiences traffic congestion, particularly during periods of heavy pilgrim movement. As thousands of devotees and visitors arrive in Vrindavan, long queues of vehicles often form along the approach road, making it difficult for passengers to reach the station and leave the area after their journey.
To address the problem, the railway administration has decided to develop a second entrance on the other end of the station. The new access point is expected to reduce the pressure on the existing approach road and make the movement of passengers and vehicles considerably smoother.
According to the proposal, the second entrance will be developed over approximately two acres. Facilities planned at the new entry include an air-conditioned waiting hall, ticket windows and parking facilities, providing passengers with better amenities.
The proposed entrance will also be accessible from the overbridge on the Chhata–Govardhan route, allowing pilgrims and other passengers to reach the station without having to depend entirely on the existing congested approach road.
The development assumes greater significance in view of the continuously increasing number of pilgrims visiting Mathura and Vrindavan every year. With passenger traffic expected to rise further, the railway administration is also planning to increase the number of important trains that halt at Vrindavan Road Railway Station in the future.
The proposed second entrance is therefore expected to serve not only as a solution to the present traffic problem but also as part of a broader effort to upgrade the station and prepare it for the growing number of pilgrims and passengers visiting the Braj region.
Railway PRO Sanjay Kumar Gautam said that work is currently underway on the plan to develop the second entrance at Vrindavan Road Railway Station and that implementation will proceed after the requisite approvals are received.
