Tourism Infrastructure Expands in Barsana Preserving Heritage While Building the Future
2025.04.10 (Vrindavan Today News): In a visionary step toward enhancing the spiritual and cultural tourism experience in Braj, the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad (UPBTVP) has initiated the construction of Tourist Facilitation Centres (TFCs) and multi-level parking facilities in Barsana and Nandgaon. Following the successful model implemented in Vrindavan, this ambitious project aims to accommodate the increasing number of pilgrims while preserving the region’s natural and spiritual essence.
With a cumulative investment of approximately INR 55 crore, the development projects in Barsana and Nandgaon are set to significantly upgrade infrastructure and visitor amenities. The TFCs are designed to provide essential facilities for pilgrims, including accommodation, dining, and parking, while ensuring minimal ecological disruption—particularly in regard to the preservation of existing trees at the construction sites.
“In Barsana, the TFC construction has been carefully planned to ensure that the trees on the site are preserved. We have issued clear directives to protect them throughout the building process,” stated S.B. Singh (IAS), the Chief Executive Officer of the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad.
The Barsana TFC is being developed in two phases on a land parcel spanning approximately 2.5 acres, situated within the premises of Radha Bihari Inter College. The first phase, with an estimated cost of INR 36 crore, will include:
A multi-level car parking facility with a capacity of 275 vehicles

A dormitory capable of accommodating 100 pilgrims
A small meeting hall
A public dining area (mess)
20 double-bed rooms for overnight stays
The second phase will further expand the amenities with the inclusion of:
Retail shops
Dedicated parking spaces for buses and e-rickshaws
Elevators for enhanced accessibility
The initiative reflects a larger plan by the Parishad to replicate the Vrindavan model across several key pilgrimage sites in the Braj region, including Barsana, Nandgaon, Jaint, Gokul, and Baldev. While construction is already underway in some locations, work in others is expected to commence soon.
The decision to invest in well-planned, eco-conscious infrastructure highlights the state’s commitment to developing Braj not only as a hub for religious tourism but also as a model for sustainable heritage development. As footfall continues to rise in Barsana—believed to be the divine abode of Shri Radha—the facilities will ensure that pilgrims can stay overnight comfortably and that vehicles are managed efficiently to reduce congestion and environmental impact.
This blend of reverence for tradition with modern planning represents a step forward in honoring the spiritual legacy of Braj while responsibly embracing the future.
