Swami Upendrananda ji of Shri Ramakrishna Ashram attains Braj Raj
Cremation was held in Mathura. On 16 July, 2020 a special Puja and Bhandara will be organised at the Vrindavan Ashram.
Vrindavan, 2020-05-09 (VT): Swami Upendrananda ji (Shakti Maharaj) of Shri Ramakrishna Ashram Vrindavan passed away at 7.20 p.m on 4th July, 2020. He had been suffering from diabetes, hypertension and cardiac problems.
Swamiji was also diagnosed as Corona positive on 3rd July. As per the government protocol, he was shifted to the nearby Covid centre for further management, where he was put on ventilator support.
Maharaj breathed his last due to acute hypoxemic respiratory failure, SARI, AKI, covid-19 infection, CAD, Diabetes Mellitus and hypertension. He was 90 years old.
Initiated by Sankaranandaji Maharaj, he joined the Order in 1953 at the Vrindavan ashram and continued to serve the centre before retiring from active life as Asst. secretary in 2000. He received Sannyasa Diksha from Swami Madhavanandaji Maharaj in 1963.
Serving the Vrindavan Hospital with complete dedication for a long time, Shakti Maharaj had earned the love and respect of many patients who were in touch with him till his last days. He was also held in high esteem by many local ashrams in Vrindavan. His meticulous routine even at this advanced age was commendable.
