Vrindavan Today | Bureau Report:
1st June, 2026, Vrindavan: The Braj Vrindavan Devalaya Samiti, An alliance of the Braj Temples organized a grand felicitation ceremony at the Shadbhuja Mahaprabhu Temple to honor the four Goswami representatives appointed to the High-Powered Committee of Thakur Shri Banke Bihari Temple, constituted by the Supreme Court of India. The event was attended by a large number of saints, acharyas, temple servitors, and residents of Braj.
Welcoming the newly appointed members—Shri Shailendra Goswami, Shri Rajat Goswami, Shri Gopesh Goswami, and Shri Himanshu Goswami, BVDS President Shri Alok Krishna Goswami and General Secretary Smt. Anagha Srinivasan expressed confidence that their inclusion in the committee would contribute significantly to improving temple management while ensuring the preservation and promotion of the temple’s ancient spiritual traditions and service practices.
Vice President Shri Manish Parikh, Organization Secretary Shri Deepak Goswami, and other members extended their best wishes to the newly appointed Goswami representatives. Speakers expressed hope that their experience, guidance, and deep understanding of traditional practices would strengthen coordination among the temple administration, the servitor community, and devotees.
Addressing the gathering, several speakers emphasized the urgent need for a scientific assessment of Vrindavan’s carrying capacity in view of the continuously increasing number of pilgrims. Such an assessment, they said, would help determine the appropriate number of devotees who can safely enter major temples at a given time and enable more efficient management of darshan arrangements.
The speakers also proposed the introduction of an online booking system for temple visits and the issuance of Aadhaar-linked digital or physical passes based on the carrying capacity of individual temples. Such measures, they noted, would facilitate orderly and dignified darshan while helping to control overcrowding and congestion.
Concern was expressed over the impact of excessive crowds on the traditional systems of worship and darshan in many temples. Speakers observed that some visitors, often unknowingly, enter temple premises wearing footwear or accompanied by pet dogs, practices that are contrary to the religious traditions and sanctity of Braj temples.
They stressed the need for clear guidelines and effective management mechanisms to preserve the dignity and sacred customs of these holy places. The gathering also recommended studying the management models of major pilgrimage centers such as Vaishno Devi, Tirupati, Pandharpur, and Khatu Shyam.

Another important suggestion was the allocation of a dedicated daily time slot for local Braj residents to have darshan of their beloved deities. Speakers noted that such an arrangement would help preserve the traditional and intimate relationship between the people of Braj and their presiding deities.
The meeting further called for systematic documentation and record-keeping of the service traditions, rituals, festivals, and darshan practices of all ancient temples in Braj. Such an initiative would help preserve this invaluable cultural and spiritual heritage for future generations and ensure the continuity of authentic temple traditions.
At the conclusion of the program, the Samiti presented certificates of honor and mementos to the newly appointed Goswami representatives. Participants collectively resolved to work towards improving temple management, enhancing facilities for devotees, and safeguarding the eternal religious traditions of Braj.
Among those present were Shri Gopal Krishna Goswami, Shri Dev Goswami, Shri Somnath Goswami, Shri Balaram Krishna Goswami, Shri Govind Sharma, Shri Brajesh Shukla, Shri Anuj Sharma, and several other distinguished members of the Braj community.
